Option 2: Connect with an Existing Event

This option is a great choice if:

  • You want to bring students to a supervised cleanup
  • You would like to conduct a cleanup outside of school hours

  • You want students to engage with a broader community

  • You would like to support an existing event

Directions: 
1.       Find a cleanup in your area by reviewing this list

Find Event
2.      Contact organizers to sign up to participate
3.       Register this clean up
Register
4.       Check with organizers to see if you can use the Clean Swell App.  If so, download the Clean Swell App for IOS or Android
5.       Attend the event and collect data using the Clean Swell App
6.      When naming your cleanup use the letters “IWC” so that we can see our collective impact!Open the Clean Swell App and Start Collecting! 
7.       Click “Done Collecting”
8.       Open the Illinois Waterway Cleanup Toolkit to access resources and global databases and maps
